A SUDAN AND BOER WAR GROUP OF FOUR TO THE ROYAL ARMY MEDICVAL CORPS. A group of four comprising Queen's Sudan medal named to Lt RDF. Jephson R.A.M.C., Queen's South Africa medal with Cape Colony, Tugela Heights, Orange Free State, Relief of Ladysmith, Transvaal and Laing's Nek clasps to Capt R.D. Jephson R.A.M.C. King's South Africa medal with South Africa 1901 and 1902 clasps, similarly named and Khedive's Sudan 1896-1908 medal with Khartoum clasp to Lieut Jephson RAMC 1898. Mounted on new ribbons for display. Robert Dalkeith Jephson was born at Kingston, Dublin on the 19th July 1891. He was commissioned on the 28th July 1897 serving on the Nile in Sudan the following year. During the Boer War he served with the 9th Field Hospital. An obituary in the Army and Navy Gazette on the 13th February 1904 reported his death. "Capt. Robert Dalkeith Jephson, R.A.M.C., dies at Rawal Pindi on the 9th inst., from the effects of an accident. He went out shooting in the early morning accompanied by his two dogs, and later on in the day was found in the park (which is in the cantonments) shot through the head, his gun lying near by, and expired before he could be taken to hospital. ... He entered the service in 1897, and was promoted to Captain in July 1900. He served in the Nile Expedition, 1898, and was present at the battle of Khartoum .."
