AN OMANI JAMBIYA DAGGER WITH SILVER METAL FITTINGS, 19TH CENTURY

An Omani jambiya featuring a broad, double-edged steel blade with a sharp curve and a prominent central medial ridge. The waisted hilt is constructed from a dark brown organic material, likely horn or hardwood, and is adorned with intricate silver-colored metal fittings. The bolster at the base of the hilt is decorated with an engraved band of repeating floral and scroll motifs. The grip and pommel are embellished with applied silver-colored medallions featuring central floral bosses surrounded by concentric circular patterns and scrolling foliate designs. A central band around the grip features a repeating granulated or beaded texture. The reverse side of the hilt shows simpler silver sheet overlays with chased floral patterns.  (Display stand not included)
