A Qajar Lacquer Mirror Case with Figural and Floral Decoration, 19th-20th Century.
Of rectangular form, the lacquered case is finely decorated in polychrome and gilt. One side depicts an interior courtly scene featuring seated male figures in conversation beneath draped curtains, attended by standing figures, with a distant landscape visible beyond the architectural setting. The border is richly adorned with repeating floral motifs in warm red and gold tones.
The reverse is decorated with an elegant composition of scrolling floral sprays interspersed with small animals, rendered in gilt against a dark ground, enclosed within a similar floral border. The interior reveals a fitted mirror framed by a gilt-speckled ground, while the opposing inner panel features a vivid red ground with floral decoration and central shaped cartouches depicting figures in landscape settings.
