A SILVER INLAID OTTOMAN HAMMAM BOWL, TURKEY, 18TH CENTURY

This shallow brass bowl features a gadrooned exterior with a central raised five pointed star on the base. From the center, numerous flutes radiate outward, each engraved with foliate arabesque and floral patterns. The upper body is encircled by a decorative band consisting of alternating hexagonal cartouches. Several cartouches are inlaid with silver featuring dense, interlacing geometric and floral motifs. The rim is finished with a series of small, evenly spaced circular perforations. The interior displays the reverse hammered form of the fluting and central star.
