A COPPER BOWL WITH FISH MOTIFS, DECCAN INDIA, 17TH - 18TH CENTURY
The interior surface is densely decorated with hand-engraved and chased motifs. A central circular medallion depicts fish swimming in a circle, a traditional representation of a pool. This central element is framed by concentric bands of foliate arabesques and interlaced scrollwork. The background of the decorative bands features finely textured cross-hatching to provide contrast. Two adhesive paper labels are affixed to the underside; one bears the handwritten characters M125 over D9, while the second bears handwritten characters (L) F, 17092/, and 13.
