Georgian circa 1800 freeblown scent bottles / lachrymatorys / tear catchers / tear vials, both with gilded decoration, one of octagonal form and both with flattened oblong ends , the longest 4 3/4'' long Lachtymatorys were used to gather & hold the tears wept by mourners at funerals. Some had a special top allowing the tears to evaporate, others were sealed for a year, and afterwards poured on the grave of the person whom the tears were wept for.
