A CRIMEA AND LONG SERVICE GROUP TO H.M. COAST GUARD. A Crimea medal 1854-56 with Sebastopol clasp, unnamed as issued but attributed to the recipient of a Naval Long Service and Good Conduct medal named to Wm Owens Comd Boatmn HM Coast Gd. William Owens from Swansea was born on the 19th April 1832, he enlisted on the 1st December 1853 to serve aboard H.M.S. London, having previously served 7 years in Merchant Ships. He was given number 13345. He transferred to HMS Brunswick in 1856, was promoted to Able then Leading Seaman and later 2nd Captain of the Foretop. Discharged to the Coastguard in 1862 from HMS Royal Adelaide. Various ships followed, Petty Officer for a short period and a final posting to HMS Defence until April 1882. With extensive copied research and service records.
