A THREE CLASP CRIMEA WAR MEDAL TO A 5TH DRAGOON GUARDS CHARGER WITH THE HEAVY BRIGADE. A Crimea 1854-56 medal with Balaklava, Inkermann and Sebastopol clasps named to Geo Murphy 5th Dg Gds. George Murphy was born in Cavan, Ireland and attested for the 5th Dragoon Guards in Cavan in the 13th November 1852. He served during the Crimea campaign being shown as effective from the 1st October to the 30th November 1854 and will therefore have been part of the Charge of the Heavy Brigade. The 5th (princess Charlotte of Wales) Dragoon Guards arrived in the Crimea on the 1st October 1854, their numbers diminished by sickness they formed part of Scarlett's Heavy brigade which engaged the 800 Russian Light Cavalry. He was discharged at Dundalk on the 9th December 1873 after 21 years and 27 days service, his conduct at this time was described as Very Good. With copied research and service record.
