An Indian Miniature Painting of a Nobleman Holding a Sword and Walking Stick, Circa 20th Century.

An Indian miniature painting executed in opaque watercolour, depicting a standing nobleman rendered in a refined and stylised manner. The figure is shown in profile, dressed entirely in white traditional attire, including a wrapped turban and a long flowing robe with fine gold detailing along the hems. A radiant halo encircles his head, signifying status and dignity.

The nobleman holds a sheathed sword close to his chest while resting his other arm upon a slender walking stick, conveying both authority and composure. He stands upon a narrow strip of green ground against a muted grey background, framed within a mustard-coloured inner border and a broad maroon outer margin. A row of stylised golden cloud motifs appears along the upper section, adding a decorative celestial element.
