A MING-STYLE BLUE AND WHITE LOTUS BOUQUET DISH, YONGZHENG MARK AND PERIOD
This porcelain dish features a shallow, rounded form with a short foot ring, decorated in underglaze blue in the style of the early Ming dynasty. The interior center is painted with a medallion containing a bouquet of lotus flowers, a seed pod, and leaves, all bound by a ribbon. This central motif is enclosed by double-line borders. The cavetto is decorated with a continuous scroll of composite flowers including peony, lotus, and hibiscus, positioned between double-line borders. The rim is finished with a classic scroll band. The decoration utilizes an intentional heaping and piling effect to emulate the appearance of 15th-century Xuande period wares. The exterior is similarly decorated with a continuous composite floral scroll. The underside of the rim features a key-fret band, and the foot is encircled by a classic scroll border. The base bears an underglaze blue six-character mark in two vertical columns within a double circle. The right column contains the characters Da, Qing, and Yong. The left column contains the characters Zheng, Nian, and Zhi. The mark reads Da Qing Yongzheng Nian Zhi, which translates to Made in the Yongzheng reign of the Great Qing dynasty. The calligraphy is consistent with imperial marks of the period. The dish is accompanied by a custom-carved wooden display stand with ruyi-head and scrolling cloud motifs.
