More About the Artist: Born in Vancouver to Naval family in 1897, Langmaid would study under William Lionel Wyllie (works by this artist also feature in today’s auction). He joined and served in the Royal Navy before his retirement in 1922 when he focused on his art, returning to study at The Royal Academy School & The Royal College of Art. When world war II began he returned to serve and was an official war artist to the commander-in-chief of the Mediterranean fleet from 1941-43. He passed away in Spain in 1956.
