S.V "C. Kennedy". 1904 (Dec 13) Picture postcard from Ireland to an employee of the Commercial Pacific Cable Co. on Midway Island, a KEVII 1d cancelled at Ballycastle, minor staining, handstamped large violet "Returned from / Wreck of Ken'dy", datestamps of Honolulu (Mar 26) and Midway Island (May 12). The Schooner "C. Kennedy" sailed from Honolulu to Midway Island with stores and a small mail for the few Marines and Cable Co. employees on the island, but was wrecked on March 2nd shortly after leaving Laysan; the mail was salvaged and returned to Honolulu on March 26th, finally arriving at Midway on May 12th after almost five months. An exceptional card, only one other cover recorded from this wreck. Photo on Page 24.
