An Islamic Bronze Faceted Ewer with Zoomorphic Panels, 12th Century.
A bronze ewer of faceted baluster form with a tall cylindrical neck, a pronounced curved spout, and a slender loop handle terminating in a thumb rest.
The body is divided into vertical panels, each finely cast and decorated in relief with stylised animal and zoomorphic motifs framed within beaded borders. The central panels feature sinuous creatures and interlacing forms, while the neck is adorned with a prominent dragon-like figure in relief beneath a band of geometric ornament.
The shoulder displays a continuous band of intricate decoration, complementing the richly worked surface below. The spout is shaped with a gently flaring lip, while the handle is of elegant arched form with a small knop detail at the upper join.
