AN ISLAMIC SILVER-MOUNTED INTAGLIO CARVED CARNELIAN TALISMANIC PENDANT. -
An oval Islamic talismanic pendant featuring an orange-toned carnelian stone. The stone is deeply intaglio-carved with several lines of Arabic script, beginning with the Basmala (In the name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate). The inscription is contained within a central circular field, which is flanked by stylised foliate scrollwork and linear patterns. The carnelian is set within a plain silver frame, featuring two small suspension loops at the top for wear. The reverse of the stone is visible within the mount.
