A HIGHLY CARVED WOOD CRUCIFIX
Probably 18th century (corpus of exceptional work)
Finely carved corpus of Christ in deep relief, with anatomical modelling and expressive drapery, mounted to a later plain cross and raised on a wood base. The quality of the carving suggests an earlier hand than the simple cross, possibly 18th century or earlier.
Provenance: Château de Chalain.
