The German paratrooper "Treuekette" or loyalty chain, was a silver pendant awarded to the wives of paratroopers who participated in the evacuation of Monte Cassino's cultural treasures. Specifically, it was given to wives of paratroopers who helped save the art treasures of the Monte Cassino abbey, an effort led by
Lieutenant Colonel Julius Schlegel and Captain Maximilian Johannes Becker. The pendant, made from silver gifted by the abbot of Monte Cassino, was a way to recognize the paratroopers' loyalty
and dedication.
