These hand-coloured lithographs are from Ornithologie du chasseur. Histoire naturelle - moeurs - habitudes - chasse des oiseaux de plaine, de bois et de marais by Jean Charles Chenu. Published by J Rothschild, Paris 1870.

Title translated as: Ornithology for the hunter. Natural history - customs - habits - hunting of birds of the plains, woods and marshes.

The birds featured are: Harle Piette (Smew), Canard a Iris Blanc (White-eyed Duck) and the Canard Ridenne (Gadwall).

The lithographs were printed using chromo-typography by G Silbermann, Strasbourg.

Size: 6.7in x 10.8in (17cm x 27.5cm). .
