A Victorian silver military presentation inkwell stand, bearing an inscription to its central sphinx lidded sarcophagus style container 'Presented to Major John Higgins On His Retirement from the Command of the H Company 1st Volunteer Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment by present and past Members January 1889', and a raised upon an quatrefoil form stand with four foliate mounted feet, W W Harrison & Co., Sheffield 1888, with two cut glass and silver lidded ink bottles either side, John Clemmens, Birmingham 1893, 29.7toz weighable silver, 28.5 by 18.5 by 13.5cm high overall.
