Robert Gillmor (British, 1936-2022) Shoveler - Somerset Levels, a Couple on Sunny Waters, the female with her head tucked back, initialled lower left, watercolour, 13.5 x 13cm, frame 31 x 30cm, glazed Provenance: Work commissioned from the Artist to raise funds for the conservation of wildlife in and outside of the UK, through the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC) Wildlife Fund (formerly Wildlife Habitat Trust or WHT). Since 1991, each year the association would seek support from well-known British wildlife artists, who would produce artwork of a particular species in their natural environment (the choice being sometimes led by the need for conservation of the chosen bird and/or area). A stamp design, sheet surround and main portfolio artwork were produced, with concept artworks exchanged throughout the process.The printed stamps and artwork would then be sold to raise funds. Robert Gillmor was the artist selected in 1997, and he produced a series of artwork on Shovelers
