An extraordinary collection of original documents assembled to record the entire life of a member of one of the most illustrious, noble and once wealthiest families of the German empire.  The son of industrialist and entrepreneur Hugo Graf Henckel von Donnersmarck (1811-1890), Hugo II Henckel von Donnersmarck (full name Hugo Karel Lazarus Eugene Frederik Graf Henckek von Donnersmarck) was born in 1832 at Siemianowitz and died in 1908 at Brynneck, Poland.  He married in May 1856 Wanda, Countess von Gaschin (1837-1908).
By the early 20th century the family's wealth was second only to that of the Krupps
