A FIRST WORLD WAR GALLANTRY GROUP OF FIVE TO THE ESSEX REGIMENT. A group of five comprising Military Medal named to 37396 Pte A.H. Gardner 1/6 Essex R. T.F. 1914 Star named to 10737 Pte A.H Gardner LEIC R. War Medal and Victory medal to 37396 Pte A.H. Gardner Essex R, and Second World War Defence medal. Re mounted court style. Arthur Henry Gardner with next of kin in Leyton, is recorded with the 1st Battalion of the Leicester Regiment as well as the Essex Regiment. He disembarked on the 9th November 1914. He was reported as wounded on the 31st March 1916 whist serving in France and Flanders, and for a second time on the 1st November 1918 and entitled to a wound stripe on both occasions. Also an unofficial National Service medal to 22654302 L/Cpl S. Gardner R. Sigs.
