More about Fabergé’s Animal Figurines: These whimsical little objects by the world famous firm were born from Carl Fabergé’s love for Japanese netsukes. He was a passionate collector of them, keeping over 500 animal models in his apartment. The company’s craftsmen would seek out the very best mineral specimens to create each individual piece, picking colours that would suit the natural appearance of the animal. Once they were carved they would be returned to the workshops to be polished and mounted with the finishing touch of gem-set eyes.
