CARTIER: A DIAMOND, LACQUER AND GOLD BANGLE, CIRCA 1910 The private collection of a Continental Lady (lot 67 to 71) The black lacquered cuff applied with a group of three textured gold flowers, each centring a European-cut diamond within claw setting, the surround scattered with gold ball studs, the interior signed 'Cartier Paris', 'Or Gris', 'Déposé', numbered, inner length from one terminal to the other approximately 13.2cm
Diamonds: bright and lively Lacquer: Three small cracks visible under a bright light source near one stud, another more discreet crack visible under another stud, small chip near another stud and one small scratch near another stud - nothing hugely obvious however noticeable under a bright light source and naked eye - commensurate with wear and age Signed 'Cartier Paris', 'Or Gris', 'Déposé', difficult to read the number, to the best of my ability I am reading: L3525 - all appear genuine to me and I have seen pieces with the exact same writing. I have not ever seen a similar example of bangle nor was I able to find any references online or in my books. Do not hesitate to request further images. The interior appears to be missing a plaque hiding the stud and flower setting The flowers are open-back setting to the bangle, on the reverse of one petal, I am able to identify a very small and discreet rectangular mark and inside it is stamped 750 Normal signs of wear commensurate with age and wear, overall in good condition Total gross weight approx. 28.3g
