COLLECTION IN 'IDEAL' ALBUM (1906) WITH STRENGTH IN BRITISH EMPIRE: Chiefly used and sparse in places, particularly for foreign countries but many well filled sections of GB & British Empire countries with high Cat. items noted inc. Bahamas, Barbados with good 'Britannias' (18) to 1/-, Bechuanaland range of 'Mafeking Besieged' ovpts (3) plus 'Bicycle' & 'Baden Powell' issues vfu, Bermuda, British Columbia 1867 $1 on 3d green unused no gum, excellent section of Canada virtually complete for the period inc. 1851 imperf. 6d (3) & 10d, 1857 perf. types with shades to 17c inc. shades, 1897 QV Jubilee set complete mixed m. & u. with 50c, $1 & $4 m. & $2, $3 & $5 with smudged roller cancels, COGH with triangulars to 1/- (7), Ceylon, Cyprus, Gold Coast QV 10/- & £1 vfu, GB with 1840 1d black & 2d blue both 4m (close), 1883 10/- with superb central 'Penzance' cds., & £1 brown- lilac Wmk. orbs neatly used with central duplex cancel, KEVII to £1 green fu, Hong Kong, Malta, Mauritius, Natal inc. KEVII 10/- & £1.10/- fu with postal cancels, Newfoundland, OFS with useful mint varieties in blocks, St Vincent, Straits Settlements, Trinidad and much more. Later issues have been added to about 1920 or slipped between the interleaving together with some interesting covers inc. one bearing an early Nova Scotia imperf. 3c. also an old auction lot from Harmers sale in 1955 still in original folder containing a range of GB 1847-54 embossed issues with 6d (4), 10d (7, inc. 'Specimen' ovpt) & 1/- (5) in mixed condition. Overall condition is mixed in places but generally above average for this type of early collection with some higher Cat. items free from faults.
