This Arabic manuscript is a medical and pharmacological compendium featuring the Kitab Minhaj al-Dukkan wa-Dustur al-A'yan (Manual of the Shop and Canon for the Notables) by the 13th-century physician Abuââ¬â¢l-Muna ibn Abi Nasr ibn Hafiz al-Attar al-Haruni, also known as Kohen al-Attar. The volume also contains Al-Mughni fi Tadbir al-Amrad (The Sufficient in the Management of Diseases) by Abu al-Hasan Hibat Allah and a work on veterinary materia medica titled Muntakhab al-Mufradat al-Baytariyah. The text is written in a Naskh script in black ink, with rubricated headings and keywords in red. A colophon provides the date 987 AH, which corresponds to 1579ââ¬â1580 CE. The volume contains extensive marginalia in various hands, indicating a history of practical use. The manuscript is bound in half reddish-brown leather over blue and beige marbled paper boards in a snail pattern. The format is a small quarto.
