Great War ‘Mesopotamian Campaign’ Military Medal pair to Private Noden, 8th Battalion Cheshire Regiment: Military Medal, G.V.R., lacking ribbon; 1914–18 War Medal (10710 PTE. J.R. NODEN 8/CHES. R) (2). Private John Richard Noden was also entitled to the 1914–15 Star, Victory Medal and Serbian Silver Medal. Disembarked 6 August 1915, likely for Gallipoli (Sari-Bair). Mentioned in Dispatches 17 October 1916; MM gazetted 15 February 1917. 8th Battalion joined Marshall’s column in Iraq: Second Action of Jabal Hamrin (16–20 October 1917), Third Action of Jabal Hamrin (3–6 December 1917), Tuz Khurmalati, April 1918.
