Great War ‘Mesopotamian Campaign’ Military Medal pair to Private Noden, 8th Battalion Cheshire Regiment: Military Medal, G.V.R., lacking ribbon; 1914–18 War Medal (10710 PTE. J.R. NODEN 8/CHES. R) (2). Private John Richard Noden was also entitled to the 1914–15 Star, Victory Medal and Serbian Silver Medal. Disembarked 6 August 1915, likely for Gallipoli (Sari-Bair). Mentioned in Dispatches 17 October 1916; MM gazetted 15 February 1917. 8th Battalion joined Marshall’s column in Iraq: Second Action of Jabal Hamrin (16–20 October 1917), Third Action of Jabal Hamrin (3–6 December 1917), Tuz Khurmalati, April 1918. Served Egypt, Palestine, Mesopotamia, and India. Lived at 55 Princess St, Winsford, Cheshire. Provenance:Edward 'Ted' Ernest Butler Collection.
