VINERS HEAVY SILVER PLATED FOUR PIECE COFFEE SET.
(Viners is a renowned British cutlery brand
founded in Sheffield by Adolph Viener and his sons in 1901-1908. Renowned for innovating with plated hollowware and stainless steel, they became the UK's largest cutlery manufacturer by the 1970s before facing bankruptcy in 1985. Currently, the brand is owned by the Rayware Group, offering high-fashion, quality cutlery.
The company was founded by a Jewish family, originally named Viener, who emigrated from Germany to England. They began as silversmiths specializing in plated hollowware (tea sets, trays) in Sheffield.
Following World War I, they expanded into high-quality silver-plated and stainless steel cutlery.
In the 1930s, Viners was granted a Royal Warrant as Cutlers and Silversmiths to King George V.
"Golden" Era (1950s-1970s): Under the guidance of Ruben Viner, the company became a household name. They famously employed top designers like Gerald Benney and Stuart Devlin to create modern cutlery shapes such as 'Studio' and 'Sable'.
Viners 'Wear White': A highly successful, durable cutlery line created from a special nickel and silver alloy before stainless steel became standard. )
