founded in Sheffield by Adolph Viener and his sons in 1901-1908. Renowned for innovating with plated hollowware and stainless steel, they became the UK's largest cutlery manufacturer by the 1970s before facing bankruptcy in 1985. The company was founded by a Jewish family, originally named Viener, who emigrated from Germany to England. They began as silversmiths specializing in plated hollowware (tea sets, trays) in Sheffield.
