A PAIR OF KHORASAN CAST BRONZE OPENWORK FELINE INCENSE BURNERS. -
A pair of zoomorphic bronze incense burners modelled as standing felines, likely representing lions or lynxes. The bodies, necks, and upright scrolling tails are intricately decorated with pierced scrolling foliate and arabesque patterns designed to allow for the dissipation of incense smoke. The heads are hinged at the collar, featuring stylised facial features including large almond-shaped eyes, small rounded ears, and circular ornamental motifs on the cheeks. The animals stand on four sturdy legs with modelled paws and decorative bands around the ankles. A band of geometric fretwork decoration runs along the base of the neck.
