A FIRST AND SECOND WORLD WAR GROUP OF FOUR TO THE DORSET REGIMENT. A group of four comprising War and Victory medals named to Lieut R.D. Lawson, Defence and War medals unnamed as issued. Mounted as worn. With accompanying miniatures and a belt with various cap badges and sewn in coloured thread with dates and postings. Also a photograph of the recipient in uniform. Robert Dixon Lawson (1/6/89 - 27/10/66) married Beatrice Grace Langdon in 1917, the couple were to have seven children. He trained with Trent College Officer Training Corps attached to the boarding school of the same name in Derbyshire before joining the Dorset Regiment as a Second Lieutenant. He is recorded as serving with the 3rd Battalion (Reserve) during the First World War with seniority from the 1st July 1917. He was reported as wounded on the 9th February 1918 and entitled to a wound stripe, at this time he was attached to the Machine Gun Corps. After the War he spent time in Australia, in Ireland with the Black and Tans, and the RAF. During the Second World War he rose to the rank of Temporary Captain. The belt that accompanies the medals give dates of 1913-14 at Trent College OTC and various dates for other appointments, cap badges and medal ribbons.
Medals slightly marked, but as worn, belt with some wear.
