A LARGE STEGODON ELEPHANT TUSK FOSSIL FROM JAVA,

A large and very rare extinct fossil Elephant (Stegodon) tusk, excavated in two parts. It was found in river deposits and subsequently exhibits an attractive patina. Stegodon are one of the largest extinct elephant species in the order Proboscidea, their fossils are found throughout Asia.
Southeast Asia, Solo River, Java - Indonesia. Pleistocene era, ca. 1.5 to 1.2 million years ago.
