Awarded to Captain W Purves 9th Regiment N.I with Mooltan bar, the reverse depicting the surrender of the Sikh army.
N.B. Captain William Purves served with the 9th Bengal Native Infantry during the Second Anglo-Sikh War, the regiment played a significant role in the arduous operations around the fortress of Mooltan, this campaign was pivotal in the eventual British annexation of the Punjab Region
