A FIRST WORLD WAR TRIO TO A PRISONER OF WAR WITH THE ROYAL NAVAL DIVISION. A Great War group of three comprising 1914 Star with Aug-Nov 1914 clasp named KW 868 G.C. Appleyard ORD SEA R.N.V.R. Collingwood BTTN R.N.D. War medal and Victory medal to Appleyard with R.N.V.R. With ribbon for the first with rosette. George Clifford Appleyard was born on the 8th September 1891. He enlisted into the York and Lancaster Regiment on the 28th August 1914 transferring to the Collingwood Battalion of the Royal Naval Division on the 8th September 1914. His war was all to brief as he was taken as a prisoner of war on the 1st of October 1914 whilst fighting around Antwerp. He spent the duration of the war at Doeberitz in Germany and was demobilised on the 7th March 1919. With extensive copied research.
