King, [nd, c.1829], a/f very worn copy, 72 engraved plates (of which 18 hand coloured) complete, but many leaves of plates loose, uncoloured plates toning and foxing/spotting, final 3 uncoloured plates chipped and worn at margins, the 18 hand coloured plates on better quality paper and in much better condition relative to the uncoloured plates, much less affected by toning and spotting, without any closed tears or marginal losses, contents page loose and chipped, else no title page or text leaves, original half calf over printed paper covered boards (a/f, very worn), boards loose, lacks backstrip, inside front cover with contemporary ownership name and address "Taprell & Holland, 19 Marylebone Street, St. James, London", being that of Taprell, Stephen & Holland, William; Taprell, Holland & Sons, London; cabinet makers, upholsterers, chair and sofa manufacturers (c. 1803–1843); together with a small collection of other 20th Century furniture making and interior design related items, including a folio sized concertina index file circa 1960s, containing 120+ glossy black & white photographs of Sybil Colefax & John Fowler Ltd furniture and furnishings, including various armchairs and other chairs, setees, sofas, daybeds, banquettes, curtains etc, all 15 x 20cm (portrait and landscape), all by Millar & Harris Photographers, Baker Street, W.1., with their inkstamps verso, plus small qty. contemporary photocopies of some of these photos with some pen & ink notes, Colefax & Palmer Ltd compliments slip c.1960s, contemp. photograph of a party of lady and gentlemen at a dining table; two manuscript ledgers with entries dated 1961-1967, the entries being for supplying furnishings and fittings with many of the clients being aristocracy, prominent socialites, wealthy business persons etc of the period, the company not stated, possibly Sibyl Colefax & John Fowler Ltd? the first ledger with 24 page manuscript alphabetic client list at front, followed by 354 pages of manuscript chronological entries dated December 1961 to September 1964, listing clients with addresses and work carried out being supplying of various fixtures, fittings, furnishings, interior decorating etc, clients listed/entries include David Astor (1912-2001), newspaper publisher and editor, member of the Astor family, several entries, including for his residence at Sutton Courtenay, Oxfordshire; several entries for Princess Lee Radziwill (1933-2019), American socialite, PR executive, and interior designer, the younger sister of Jacqueline Kennedy, for works done at 4 Buckingham Palace; many entries for Lady Ursula d'Abo (1916-2017), English socialite and aristocrat, for work at West Wratting; other entries include Lady Elizabeth Clyde (1918-2013), John Aspinall (1926-2000), for work at 1 Lyall Street, Belgravia, and Elm Tree Road, Sir Geoffrey Eley (1904-1990), Mrs Ghika (probably Barbara Hutchinson, later wife of Nikos Hadjikyriakos-Ghikas), for work at 27 Bloomfield Road, Royal Hotel Scarborough, Royal Yacht Squadron, Cowes, Marconi Marine, Marconi Yacht (Electra III), David Lewis, 69 Mount Street, Douglas Wilson, Lady Vaughan, Lady Pack, Eric Dugdale, Lady Ridley, etc etc, the second ledge with 26 page manuscript alphabetic client list at front, followed by 354 pages of manuscript chronological entries dated December 1961 to September 1964, listing clients with addresses and work carried out being supplying of various fixtures, fittings, furnishings, interior decorating etc, clients listed/entries include Anthony Quayle (1913-1989), Princess Zu Lowenstein Nee Miss Josephine (b.1931) for work at 11 Holland Villas Rd., Lady Ursula d'Abo, Mrs Sylvester Gates, Drue Heinz (1915-2018), actress and socialite, for work at Binfield Lodge, Mrs oppenheimer, Englefield Green, Lady Hambledon, Mrs Ian Fleming, Mrs Vestey, sir Martin Lindsay, Mrs Gould, Ashford, Peta Coates, Kelveden, Essex, Lady Ward, Miss Brassey, Mrs Trafford, Lady Zetland, Mrs Cecil King, Lady Glendevon, Kathy Roberts, Claremont Club, etc etc, both folio, contemporary cloth bindings, first volume with leather gilt label to spine (worn); plus a quantity of C20th furniture trade catalogues etc, including 'Hampton's Easy Chairs & Settees.
