A Royal Worcester figure, modelled by Sir Thomas Brock, The Bather Surprised, she stands scantilly draped, by a tree stump, picked out in green and burnished gilt, canted base, 62cm high, impressed T Brock, London, crown and circle mark in puce, impressed 868, 65cm, c.1875
Brock worked for several of the Worcester factories in the 1850s and 60s before completing his professional training under sculptor John Foley in London. His most famous sculptures are the Victoria monument outside Buckingham Palace and the Albert Memorial under Foley.
