A LARGE OTTOMAN CEREMONIAL BRASS KHADKULO ON PEDESTAL STAND, 19TH/20TH CENTURY. -
A large brass ceremonial vessel known as a Khadkulo, typically used for ritual offerings. The vessel features a wide, shallow basin with a scalloped rim and a central well containing a raised, pierced openwork screen topped with a bud finial. The basin is supported by a bulbous pedestal base. The surface is decorated throughout with chased and engraved patterns including scrolling foliage, geometric interlace, and circular knot motifs representing the Ashtamangala. Stylised script is featured within cartouches on the rim and the base, interwoven with the decorative background.
