polychrome transfer print of THE SHIPWRIGHT'S ARMS to one side and a ship under construction flying a Union and Red Ensign flag to the other, under the spout painted overglaze H / L*A / 1792 and inscribed in transfer below IF GOD BE FOR US WHO CAN WITHSTAND US over a seated figure of Britannia -- 8¾in. (22cm.) high; together with another jug with transfer for The Shipwright's Arms, James Leech and Ship Caroline -- 11in. (28cm.) high

The Worshipful Company of Shipwrights, presented in 1932 by W. Lacon Threlford, M.B.E.,R.D., later Sir William Lacon Threlford, Sheriff 1932-1933, and Second Master 1938-1939. Displayed at Sotheby's Rule Britannia Exhibition, 1986 (item one); and presented by Capt. J. Bell White, CBE, RNR, Master 1912-1913 (item two).
