1962 Matchless G50
Frame number G50 1855
Engine number G50 1855
Gearbox number G50 1855
Purchased new by the present owner’s husband Lewis Young in 1962
One of the last of approximately 180 produced from 1958 to 1962
Raced successfully by Lewis Young in national, international and World Championship GPs
Subsequently sold and re-purchased in the late ‘60s
Totally restored by Lewis Young and completed in 1990
Very original condition
The engine was run at that time and the bike has been kept in the house since then
Sadly Lewis passed away in 1997
With the original purchase invoice, restoration invoices, photo of Lewis with the bike and list of Lewis Young’s impressive racing successes
With the condition, matching numbers and excellent provenance this must be without doubt the best G50 in existence
