A RARE QAJAR TURQUOISE INSET CARED STONE TEAPOT, PERSIA, 19TH CENTURY
The vessel is carved from a dark hardstone, such as chlorite or soapstone, and features a matte patina. The body is heavily ornamented with inset gemstone cabochons, including turquoise and small red stones, possibly rubies or garnets. The construction includes two curved handles and a short, integrated spout. The decoration consists of fine incised scrolling and geometric patterns. The lid is topped with a central red stone surrounded by concentric rings of turquoise. The neck displays slanting bands of turquoise dots, while the shoulder and lower body feature registers of circular floral rosettes centered with red stones. The main body is adorned with a wide repeating band of interlocking palmette motifs densely filled with turquoise.
