A WATERLOO MEDAL, 1815 TO THE 30TH REGIMENT OF FOOT. A Waterloo Medal named to Jos. Dawson 2nd Batt. 30th Reg. Foot. On a replaced clip type suspension and large ring. Joseph Dawson from Penwith enlisted at Loughborough at the age of 23 on the 8th February 1804. He is recorded with Captain James Skerrows Company of The 30th (Cambridgeshire ) Regiment of Foot. The 30th had a strength of 615 men of whom 57 were killed 195 wounded and 27 more missing. These casualties were suffered whilst repulsing 11 French cavalry charges on their squares. They also played a significant part in stopping the final assault by Napoleons Imperial guard. Dawson was discharged after 18 years and 20 days service on the 1st June 1821. With copied roll and discharge papers.
Replaced clip, otherwise in very nice condition.
