A George V 1895 pattern 7th Gurkha Rifles Officers sword by Henry Wilkinson , London: the straight single edged blade with acid etched decoration, crown and 'GRV' cipher also engraved 'A H Arbuthnot' makers mark to shoulder as per title, serial number ' 45771' to back of blade, over a Gothic style half -basket guard with single quillon decorated en suite, wire bound fish skin grip and chequered backstrap, together in a brown leather scabbard, blade length 82.5cm., together with a vellum Commission document for A E Arbuthnot dated 20th February 1857 issued by 'George Francis Robert Lord Harris, Governor and Commander in Chief for the Fort and garrison of Fort St. George and Town of Madraspatnam' . *Notes- The records for Wilkinson Sword show that the sword was made in 1915 for A H Arbuthnot. Archibald HIgh Arbuthnot served Gurkha regiments from 1907 to the 1920s.
