An Indian Steel Katar Dagger with Engraved Blade, 19th Century - An Indian Katar (or Katara) dagger, a distinctive push-dagger. The piece features a double-edged, straight blade crafted from steel exhibiting a visible "watered steel" or "Damascus" pattern.. The blade is intricately engraved with scrolling floral motifs and zoomorphic figures, including elephants. The characteristic H-shaped transverse grip is fashioned from a dark metal, likely iron or steel, and displays a consistent dark patination.
