painted with an Eastern Han dynasty story depicting court official Geng Gong and other generals standing in front of an altar table and worshipping the Well God, the underside of the dish with an unglazed channel foot rim, the base painted with an underglaze blue leaf mark within a double-ring
32.8cm diameter

PROVENANCE: From a Norwegian private collection.

NOTE: The story relates to a time of war with the Xiongnu, during which they were besieged for half a year and ran out of water and food.
