A carved nephrite pendant on a baroque pearl necklace, the carved nephrite pendant depicts a Chinese auspicious motif of a cicada on leaf, surmount set with an old European-cut diamond with an estimated weight of 0.36ct, to a series of baroque Tahitian seawater pearls, hand-knotted to a circular ruby and diamond cluster box clasp, unmarked metal testing as 18ct, pendant drop 7.7 cm, overall length 42.0 cm; together with three loose pearls, total weight of items 83.4 grams. diamond measuring 4.2 x 4.2 x 3.2 mm One cicada on a leaf, 金枝(『知了』的諧音)玉葉, symbolising good omen, a propitious portent. When wearing as a pendant, the idiom 一鳴驚人 has the meaning of amaze the world with a single brilliant feat.
