** PREVIOUSLY UNRECORDED "WOODLEIGH" SQUARED CIRCLE ON DLR 2d ORANGE-RED; c.1899 usage of a De La Rue 2d with an inverted near complete UNRECORDED "WOODLEIGH" Squared Circle with an eccentric "24" code (part of date?). One of only two examples of this mark we have seen (the other - a very poor strike - sold for $170 in 2004); an Important addition to the record. [This P.O. was only open from 1898 to 1905.] Ex Sherwood. Sold for £220 in our June 2011 sale.
