An Indian Devotional Painting of Krishna with Gopis beneath a Pavilion, 19th-20th Century.

A finely detailed Indian devotional painting depicting Krishna standing beneath an ornate domed pavilion, flanked by four elegantly dressed gopis in graceful poses of adoration and dance. Krishna is shown centrally, holding a lotus, richly adorned with jewellery and garlands, his dark complexion contrasting beautifully with the soft gold and cream tones of the composition.

The pavilion is framed by stylised palm trees and shimmering foliage rendered in gold, creating a luminous backdrop. Above, celestial elements include a circular moon face and small narrative vignettes, adding symbolic depth to the upper register. The lower section features rolling hills, temple structures, and small groups of figures in procession, grounding the divine scene within a sacred landscape.

A decorative floral border encloses the composition, with repeating blossoms in soft pink, blue, and green tones, all framed within a bold red outer margin. Executed in opaque pigments with extensive use of gold detailing, the painting displays fine line work and delicate patterning throughout.
