A Five Inch Gauge Engineered Stirling Eight Foot Bogie Single 4-2-2 Live Steam Coal Fired Tender Locomotive (Designed by Patrick Stirling and Built in Doncaster for The G.N.R - based on D.C Piddington's revised "Joe Scarth's" design and drawings (supplied by A.I Reeves). Built and painted to an excellent standard with silver soldered copper boiler, working pressure 80psi, feed by axle pump with auxiliary in the tender; mechanical lubricator, pole reverser, fully braked (steam brake), gunmetal cylinders with slide valves actuated by Stepensons's gear etc, the backhead is also well designed with usual equipment & gauges, the layout achieving the prototypical look. The tender with hand pump, sprung braked wheels and extensive rivet work etc. The whole locomotive is in superb visual condition, untested but recently run on air by the vendor; finished in G.N.R green/black and bright metal, lined black/white and fitted with brass plate "Patrick Stirline 1870 Doncaster Works" and carries running number one. There are what appears to be a full set of drawings but no further provenance or certification; it also has a "Rolling Road" display stand. Locomotive 33 inch long, tender 24 inch, overall height 16 inch. The original "Number 1" is currently preserved at N.R.M
