He He Erxian, one holding a flywhisk, the other a lotus leaf branch, both standing on an aubergine-glazed pierced rockwork sprayed with yellow-glazed cash, one wearing a green jacket, the other a yellow jacket, their faces, heads and body with a clear glaze, the flat base unglazed with a copy of the Marchant exhibition catalogue

PROVENANCE: From an important French private collection formed between 1924 and 1941. Purchased from Chez L. Raufast, 18 Rue la Boëtie, Paris, 10th November 1924.
EXHIBITION: Included by Marchant in their 2023 exhibition of Kangxi Biscuit and Pottery: A Private French Collection, no. 35, pp. 80/1.
NOTE: A similar example is illustrated by William R. Sargent in The Copeland Collection, The Peabody Museum of Salem, no. 25, pp. 70/1, where the author notes “The Twin Genii of Harmony and Mirth, personifying the spirit of accord, who bestow blessings on marriages”.
