1918 SCAPA FLOW GERMAN FLEET SURRENDER, COVERS, POSTCARDS, ETC.: A collection of PPCs, covers, and press cuttings, etc. showing the surrendered fleet in Scapa Flow, Scotland. A scarce cover, small closed tear on opening, from an interned sailor on board "S.M.S. Friedrich der Grosse" with good to fine sc "KAIS.DEUTSCHE/ MARINE/SCHIFFSPOST No 49 with a ms "Internment Post" & ms endorsed on reverse, "R.S.Friedrich der Grosse, England, Scapa-Flow." A scarce item of mail; and 1940 letter addressed c/o Metal Industries Ltd., Orkneys, who were on of the salvaging companies; and various PPCs & photographs of the interned fleet and some take at the time of the scuttling and later salvaging.
