RAF Group Captain Wood collection. A comprehensive collection of belongings from R.A.F Group Captain Robert Henry Wood O.B.E.
Starting his career as an airframe fitter in 1955, Wood had a full and illustrious career that included postings around the world flying Vulcan Bombers (Flight Commander No.44 Vulcan Squadron at RAF Waddington 1967), fighter aircraft and later teaching in various training craft as a Group Captain in command at Cranwell. Made an Officer of the British Empire in the 1977 Queens Birthday Honours list, the collection includes lots of ephemera including his O.B.E invitation, training certificates, newspaper cuttings, various banquet cards and photographs.

* pilots flying log books, which have many references to flights in the Vulcan I & II and others.
* Uniforms including RARE group Captain peaked cap and epaulettes.
* Badges, patches and presentation items.
* MOD issue field glasses
