An 18th Century political drinking glass circa 1774, the conical bowl engraved with clasped hands below 'DEVAYNES FOR EVER' above a plain stem and conical foot, height 11.5cm.
NB - William Devaynes was Director & Chairman of the East India Company, Director of the Globe Insurance Co and a successful banker. He was also MP for Barnstable (1774-80 - 1784-96 - 1802-06) This glass was likely engraved for the 1774 campaign.
All in good order with only minor age related wear
